Compete in the fight for the top place! AniManGaki 2015 is bringing you our annual cosplay competition! Winner of the AniManGaki 2015 Cosplay Olympics are automatically qualified for Comic Fiesta 2015's Cosplay Invitational!

COMPETITION PRIZES

AniManGaki 2015 is proud to present over RM4,000 worth of cash and prizes for Cosplay Olympics! Take part and show us what you are capable of.

COMPETITION DETAILS

  • Entries must consist of minimum 2, maximum 3 cosplayer1 participants and up to 2 helpers2.
  • The competition consists of one round.
  • There will be 8* groups competing for this competition.
  • The performance theme for Cosplay Olympics is Professional Sports3.
  • Participants are to incorporate at least one professional sport into their performance. Participants who do not follow the performance theme will be disqualified.
  • Participants are allowed to and advised to prepare accompanying music and speech for their performance.
  • Participants are given up to 6 minutes of performance time, inclusive of up to 2 minutes for setup and up to 1 minute for cleanup.
  • Space allocated for the performance is a minimum of 4m x 6m4.

1 Participants MUST cosplay as an official character from officially released ANIME, GAME or MANGA. NO Original Characters or Fan-Made Characters, NO Mix of characters from different sources.

2 Helpers MUST NOT be the center of the performance. Helpers are only meant to assist in the performance of cosplayer participants. This covers props setup and cosplay setup. See rules and regulations for more information.

4 This is an approximate. Stage measures at approximately 7m x 9m, height is approximately 1m.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • Please fill in the registration form.
  • Please arrive at the event venue (Sunway Pyramid Convention Center) and CHECK IN before 11:00 am at the registration counter. Registered cosplayers & helpers will each receive a free entry tag.
  • Please be PRESENT beside the STAGE at least 30 minutes before competition starts. We will inform the remaining details via email.
  • Any queries and changes (e.g. submission of new audio file) can be forwarded to Terry Ng, AniManGaki Activities Co-ordinator at [email protected].

RULES & REGULATIONS

  • First come first verify then serve!
  • Decision on the winners of the competition is solely up to the judges.
  • Keep your mobile phone on and loud as we will contact you before and during the event day. Always check your mobile phone in case of any miss calls that may come from the AniManGaki committee.
  • Don't be late for your performance! You will be opted out for being late!
  • Make sure you have tight contact with your group mates – every year we keep losing them!
  • Make sure your props are ready! Don't lose them before your performance!
  • Make sure you do not damage other equipment on the stage.

RULES & REGULATIONS FOR COSPLAY APPAREL & PROPS

Rules that cover what you wear and what you bring:

  • Breaking any of the cosplay & props rules will result in disqualification of the participant group.
  • No explicit clothing - we are a family friendly event.
  • No live, loaded projectile weaponry – including any type of gun.
  • No sharp or metal prop.
  • No illegal weapons as stated by the Malaysian Firearms Law.
  • No sport balls on the stage, it may result in damaging equipment or the audience.
  • No liquids, powder, explosive, corrosive, radioactive, abrasive, confetti, glitter or any other fragmented prop which are difficult to clean.
  • No illegal apparels as state by the Malaysia Law.

RULES & REGULATIONS FOR COSPLAY PERFORMANCE

Rules that cover what you may or may not do on the stage during your performance:

  • Keep the swearing to a minimum.
  • The helpers on the stage are limited to:
    • Set up props before the performance.
    • As a prop themselves.
    • As a background extra.
    • As a 'Mook' (refer here)
  • Clean up props after the performance.
  • No explicit or NSFW behaviors.
  • No damaging any equipment on stage.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • AniManGaki is allowed to remove any performer on stage if the group has not followed any of the rules & regulations as stated above.
  • AniManGaki is not responsible for any damages to your costume or props during your performance.
  • AniManGaki is not responsible for any physical damage or injury to you during your performance. We will provide first-aid as necessary.
  • AniManGaki is not responsible for any losses of property during your performance.
  • AniManGaki is not responsible for any emotional losses during your performance – Sorry bro.
  • You are held responsible for any damages to stage equipment caused by your group during your performance.
  • AniManGaki is allowed to use any material / recordings of your performance for promotional purposes.
  • Kei-chan reserves the rights to smack you in the face with the rules if you have not read them.
  • AniManGaki reserves the rights to alter the rules or structure of the competition as we see fit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

May I use music?

Yes, it is advisable to do so! Please attach your music file (.mp3) into the form and ensure the audio is clear before sending it to us.

May I use stage props?

Yes! However we are only providing limited number of chairs and tables. Should you have your own stage props, please notify us in the form.

May I get some microphones for my performance?

Microphones will only be provided by request basis. Inform us in the form.

OH @$&*, I accidently registered / I don't want to go for the competition!

Please inform us before the event and we'll sort it out!

What happened to SOLO competition?

We have received poor response from the previous years towards solo competitions. The difficulty for participants to perform solo on stage has risen. Group = better, more fun, easier.

Can I have a tour / practice of the stage before I perform?

Subject to stage availability, a stage tour is allowed only on Friday 28th August 2015 after 5:00pm. Please notify the stage crew latest by 27th August 2015.

THE JUDGES

Fujiwara Kazuko

Cosplayer / Motion Designer

Kazuko started cosplaying since 2007. She became one of the member of Nezumi cosplay group during 2009 and participated in cosplay competitions occasionally. She is known for winning the champion of Garena League of Legends cosplay competition in 2013 as Jinx. Since then, she has been actively involved in local events, judging cosplay competitions and holding workshops. She represented Malaysia to perform during Asian Festival 17th China Style Cosplay Event in Tottori, Japan, along with her partner Weon Haur. She loves to watch stage performances and is always looking forward to new ideas being executed in cosplay skits.

Weon Haur

Cosplayer / Gamer / Graphic Designer

Weon Haur started cosplaying since 2007. He became one of the member of Nezumi cosplay group during 2009 and participated in cosplay competitions occasionally. He is known for winning the champion of Garena League of Legends cosplay competition in 2014 as Wukong. He represented Malaysia to perform during Asian Festival 17th China Style Cosplay Event in Tottori, Japan, along with his partner, Kazuko. He loves to challenge cosplaying different kinds of characters; therefore, he is always full of surprises.

Kikyo

Cosplayer / Banker

Kikyo started cosplaying since 2005. She is widely known to be the long time cosplay partner of another local veteran cosplayer Ayase. After gaining invaluable performing experience while taking part in various cosplay competitions during 2006-2007, she was actively invited to take up judging role starting 2008. She is known for serving as one of the honorary judges of NIPS TV3 Crazy Challenge Cosplay Competition 2010. Temporarily retired from the local cosplay scene since 2011 to focus on marriage & family, she decided to make a cosplay comeback in 2015 with an emphasis on be innovative, stay passionate & always have fun in cosplay.
